The 49er jacket (1949) is steeped in Pendleton’s Western roots with the California Gold rush.

This inspired iconic Designer Berte Wiechman, sewed the original samples herself, taking styling particulars from the Pendleton men’s shirt. The 49er Jacket featured discreet tucking at the yoke, and 2 bias-cut pockets near the hem. The boxy cut showcased Pendleton's famous plaids and larger shell buttons gave each jacket that famine flair... whether going to the country or high tea at the plaza.

Berte insisted on a special black shell from Australia and Tahiti, supplied by J. Carnucci & Sons, NJ. In 1956 alone, Pendleton  purchased $150,000.00 worth of these buttons for the 49er jacket signature finishing touches.

Nuna searches for these beauties and replaces each jacket with the same period pearl buttons. Staying true to the period of manufacturing.
