Hadley Cashmere was one of the leading manufacturers in the United States from the 1940s through the 1970s.
Hadley made sweaters for department stores and often both names will be on the label. If you suspect that an unlabeled sweater might be cashmere, look in the side seams for the little 100% cashmere label shown in picture two. Hadley very often put this label in the side.
This Burnt orange sweater is the perfect silhouette to wear over a sleeveless dress... summer or winter. The "V" sailor shawl collar super stylish. You will notice the inside "Hadley" seam label. This is the "tell" that it was made as a private label. The Finishing touch are the hand carved hand dyed diamond buttons.
This is a rare find indeed. Cashmere during this time is history had a softness level of 12.5micron. This genetic no longer exists in the market place. The shoulder seaming finishing was completed in a method called "hooking". where the seaming is hand hooked where the seams look woven instead of sewn..
